It’s that time of the week, when you don’t really know what to do. With Monday just around the corner, you might want to check if all your computer’s software are up to date, and since you have some time in hand, you may also want to see some apps that are going to cut down the hassle and make things easier for you.
This week we’ve an app that scans the running processes for virus, an app that organizes your media collection, and an extension which will notify you as soon as your favorite page has got an update.

The built-in Task Manager of Windows is no slouch when it comes to managing the processes and services. But it isn’t much powerful. And that’s where Process Explorer comes into play. Recently bought by Microsoft, the app monitors the running processes for viruses and infections. The virus engine is provided by VirusTotal, an online service which uses a wide range of popular security suites.
In addition to a much detailed analysis and controls over it, there is an option to make this app your default task manager.

If you have a limited internet plan, then monitoring on your data usage becomes very important. We have had covered similar apps in our past issues, and NetTraffic is yet another application for that job.
Regardless of the kind of connection you are using (WiFi, wired broadband), it will let you know about your current connectivity speed and how much data you have used in a particular instant of time. The data speed bars run silently on the taskbar.
Browser Extensions
Page Monitor (Chrome)
Be it is an exam result, or some official announcement, keep hitting the refresh page is a tiresome job. With this extension you can keep track of your favorite pages, and as soon as anything on that page changes or updates, it will give you a notification.
Streamus (Chrome)
Playing YouTube on Chrome browser is fun, until you accidentally close the tab, in which case, it is just pain to get things restored. Streamus is here to change it. Once you have got this extension installed in your browser, you don’t need to go to the website as just “Streamus: song-you-want-to-play” and hitting enter will start that video.
Cache Killer (Chrome)
While cache files help you save bandwidth, but it too possess a fair share of shortcomings. Supertab (Firefox)
Having multiple tabs open on your browser is a jarring task. And things get only worse when you start looking for the tab you had just opened or left. Supertab is an extension which tries to fix that broken model. Click Alt+Tab or Ctrl + Tab to cycle through all the opened extensions in the order of its recently opened tab first.

It’s one of those updates which although can’t list many new features, but make the software faster and stabler. Well, even if you don’t have an idea at this moment, you can browse through the page, it is pretty cool place to kill time.
